CONSERVATION OF ANIMALS
According to the Great Indian culture - wildlife is integral part of Indian culture . The story Panchatantra is the complete story about human being and animal. In some places animals are treated as the messenger and vehicle of god . Just like lion and tiger are the Bahana of goddess Durga . Crocodile is the Bahana/ vehicle of Varuna deva , elephant is the bahana of Lord Indra and laxmi , Snakes are recived as the symbols of Lord Shiva . Eagle is the Bahabna of lord Vishnu.
In this way animals play crucial role in Indian culture .
STEPS TAKEN FOR PROTECTION OF WILDLIFE
In 1972 i, a wildlife conservation act was passed , which provide a main legal frame for conservation of wildlife in India .
The main objective of the Act-
- Provide protection of endangered species
- To provide legal support to the area of conservation of our country -such as National park sanctuary , sanctuary and closed area.
Amendment of 1972 wildlife act
The wildlife act of 1972 was edited in 1991 , making a punishable offence - when some one is killing a wild animal and also made provision of specified plant species
- There are 103 National parks and 535 wildlife sanctuary in our country .
- important step taken by India to protect them and it was done with the collaboration with UNESCO.
- Unique scheme like Tiger Project and elephant project are introduced .
National Park -
- Here cattle grazing is completely prohibited , downgrading of national park is not permited , human habitation is not permitted to that area.
